An Australian at the Alamo

I'm posting some old photos that I should have posted months ago. Here are the pictures from Liz and Harlie's trip to San Antonio this summer. And now they are engaged! Congratulations! We're excited to have you as part of the family, Harlie!

Above, Liz and Harlie pose in front of the Alamo, below Laura and Liz on the Riverwalk.

Crazy Dog Lady

It finally happened, it was only a matter of time.... I have become the crazy dog lady. I was driving along US-281, a major San Antonio freeway near our house, when I saw a tiny black dog standing on the median between the freeway and the access road. I knew she wouldn't last long out there, so I stopped to pick her up. By the time I could turn around and get back to the spot, she'd crossed the access road over to a Waterburger, where she stood in the drive-through lane, perhaps hoping for a dropped fry. No tags, no collar and no one claimed her, so Winnie is now our third dog. The vet says she's about 8 years old, she is super sweet and has developed an obsession with Erick - she follows him around all day.
Above, Winnie on the back porch, below, hanging out in the kitchen.
Zoey and Winnie at meal time. The same thing happens at every meal: Zoey speed eats through her kibble and then sits behind Winnie, staring and hoping Winnie leaves some food behind. So far, no such luck for her.

Zoey Plays Frisbee (While Jack Watches)

Zoey and Jack search the ground for the Frisbee. They're not the best at watching to see where it is thrown. You can tell how much bigger Zoey is getting than Jack!
Zoey finds the Frisbee, and then as night falls, holds it in her mouth and contemplates whether or not she should give it back to her Mom. She usually decides not to.

After a long evening of Frisbee, Zoey takes a nap. Erick actually likes her when she is tired :-)

Allison & Lauren Visit!!!

Allison came to visit us in San Antonio with Lauren,
who is 5 months old. (Jackson stayed behind in
Houston with Grandma and Grampa, Dave stayed behind in Arkansas with his co-workers). Lauren, as you can see, is super cute!! She is also a very happy baby!!! It was really fun to get to spend time with you both!

We're going to send out the picture below in our Christmas cards, just to confuse people :-)

Home Renovations

In the process of painting the house we have discovered that our house is rotting away. Which is ironic since we live in the "dry" climate of San Antonio. So, as we've been painting we've been removing the old boards and replacing them with new ones to prevent our house from crumbling around us. Of course, when I say "we" I mean Erick doing 75% of the work and Laura doing 25% of the work. But I also was taking pictures, which is very important!!

Above is some rotton wood we pulled off. To the right is the corner of the front of the house after we took the old board off. We're also trying to put in insullation as we go.

Above, Erick saws new boards. Below, the finished product before painting.

This is what now holds our home together:
